FOSSIL OF SITTING
FOSSIL OF SITTING
Speculative Furniture / Sculpture / Performance Object
Fossil of Sitting is a speculative furniture piece that records the body not as measurement, but as event.
The chair begins as a compact wax volume supported by a light metal structure. Through the application of controlled heat, the material softens and enters a temporary state between object and matter. At that precise moment, the body sits on it.
Instead of being designed in advance through fixed ergonomic measurements, the final form is produced by pressure, weight and contact. The result is a chair shaped by the act of sitting itself: a soft imprint, a fossil of use, a functional object transformed into a personal cast.
Each piece becomes unique, preserving the trace of a specific body and a specific moment.
Made from wax or wax-like translucent materials, Fossil of Sitting explores the boundary between furniture, sculpture and performance. It proposes a design process in which form is not imposed, but slowly negotiated with heat, gravity and the human body.
