GOLDEN ROCK
GOLDEN ROCK
Material Research / Stereotomic Sculpture
London, 2022
Golden Rock is a stereotomic sculpture conceived as a carved fragment from a fictional ancient city hidden in the desert.
The piece explores architecture as mass, excavation and revelation. Rather than being assembled, it appears to be cut, hollowed and discovered — as if a solid mineral body had been opened to expose an inner world of chambers, arches, voids and hidden strata.
Its porous, stone-like surface evokes a weathered rock shaped by erosion and time, while the golden interior suggests something precious buried within: a latent city, a concealed memory, or the remains of an unknown civilisation.
Between ruin, artifact and imagined architecture, Golden Rock investigates matter not as finish, but as depth — a body that must be excavated in order to be understood.
