Public Competition — 1st Honourable Mention
Bahía Blanca, Argentina
The project proposes a second life for the historic wharf of Ingeniero White: a transformation of its industrial and railway memory into a new cultural and public landscape.
The symbolic and material charge of the pier becomes the starting point for an intervention that seeks to humanise the scale of the port. Rather than erasing its productive past, the proposal reactivates it through new routes, public spaces and cultural programmes that allow citizens to inhabit, perceive and celebrate the magnitude of the harbour.
Rails, stones, timber and metal — materials once tied to labour, movement and infrastructure — return as fragments of memory. They define intimate and collective paths, visual openings and spaces of pause, where the port can be seen, heard and felt.
Between museum, park and civic promenade, the project brings together the historical, the industrial, the natural and the contemporary into a single atmospheric landscape.
The site is part of the industrial memory of Ingeniero White, linked to grain elevators once considered for UNESCO recognition.
