The place is a trace of memory.

Located in Punta Arenas, on the coastal edge of the Strait of Magellan, the project proposes an architecture shaped by memory, wind and landscape. It responds to the poetics of the Magellanic territory: its eroded atmosphere, muted tones, maritime condition and the ship as a historical instrument of movement, encounter and appropriation.

The proposal is conceived as the construction of memory within a territory marked by amnesia. It reflects on the first inhabitants of the region and their relationship with extreme weather, nomadic movement and temporary shelter. Inspired by the Selk’nam people, the project reinterprets the idea of an itinerant dwelling — a fragile structure of branches and skins — as a contemporary architecture for research, education and encounter.

Rather than imposing a fixed object on the landscape, the project becomes a threshold between land, sea and memory: an inhabitable trace facing the Strait of Magellan.
