RAILWAY PARK COLEGIALES
RAILWAY PARK COLEGIALES
Housing / Public Space / Mixed-use Urban Park
Public Competition — Third Prize
Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2018
Railway Park Colegiales proposes a new urban sector where housing, public space and mixed uses are organised around the construction of identity and urbanity.
The project understands identity as the capacity of a new neighbourhood to create roots: a sense of belonging supported by everyday functions, social life, public space and the quality of collective experience. It is not only a matter of form, but of the conditions that allow people to recognise a place as their own.
Urbanity is understood as the vitality produced by the balance between public and private life. Through housing density, active ground floors, shared facilities, mixed uses, access to transport and recreational spaces for different generations, the proposal seeks to create a neighbourhood with the intensity and continuity of a consolidated part of the city.
Set along the railway landscape of Colegiales, the project transforms infrastructure into an opportunity for connection. The park becomes a soft urban seam: a place where housing, co-living, co-working, retail and public life are woven into a continuous civic landscape.
